What is Alabama EBT?
The Alabama EBT Card is used for the delivery of benefits such as Alabama Food Assistance (SNAP benefits) and Family Assistance (FA) benefits.
Once you are approved for food stamps or family assistance, you will receive your benefits each month on an Alabama EBT Card.
Alabama EBT Card Login
Follow the two steps below to login into your Alabama EBT Card account.
Step 1:
If you are a new user of the Alabama EBT Card site, you must create a User ID and select a password.
To do so, click on the “Create User Account” link to create a User ID and select a password.
Your User ID must be at least 4 characters but no more than 10 characters long.
You can use any combination of letters or numbers in the User ID.
In addition, Your password must be at least 8 characters long but no more than 16 characters long.
You can use any combination of letters or numbers in the password.
A strong password should include the following:
- At least 8 characters—the more characters, the better
- A mixture of both uppercase and lowercase letters
- A mixture of letters and numbers
- Inclusion of at least one special character, e.g., ! @ # ? ]
Furthermore, you will be required to provide the following information when you register for an account:
- 5 digit ZIP Code
- Date of Birth
- Your 16 digit EBT Card Number
Once you have entered the required information, click on “Register” to continue, as shown below.
Once you have selected your information, it’s time to log in to your new account.
Step 2:
Go to the Alabama EBT website and type your User ID and Password into the box as shown below.
Next, click on the “LOGIN” link to complete the login process.
If you entered the correct User ID and Password, you will be taken to your Alabama EBT Card page.
If you have forgotten your User ID or Password, or you need to unlock your User ID, here’s what you should do:
Click on the “Forgotten User ID” or “Reset Password” link on the login page above for help, as shown below.
Forgot Alabama EBT User ID?
If you clicked on the “Forgotten User ID” link, you will be taken to the page below.
You will be asked to provide the following information to retrieve your User ID:
- 5 digit ZIP Code
- Date of Birth
- Your 16 digit EBT Card Number
Next, click the “SUBMIT” button to complete the process.
If you provided the correct information, you should be able to successfully retrieve your User ID.
How to Reset Alabama EBT Card Password
If you clicked on the “Reset Password” link, you will be taken to the page below.
You will be asked to provide the following information to retrieve your User ID:
- 5 digit ZIP Code
- Date of Birth
- Your 16 digit EBT Card Number
- Enter New Password
Confirm New Password
Next, click the “SUBMIT” button to complete the process.
If you provided the correct information, you should be able to successfully reset your password.
Alabama EBT Card Balance
Here are the options available to you to check the balance on your Alabama EBT Card:
Check Your Balance Online
Logging on to the EBT Card website, as shown above, to check the balance on your card.
Check your Balance by Phone
Also, you can call the Alabama EBT Customer Service number (1-800-997-8888) on the back of your card.
After you enter your EBT card number, you will hear your current food assistance or family assistance account balance(s).
Use an ATM or POS Machine
Additionally, you can check your food assistance or family account balances at an ATM or Point of Sale (POS) machine.
Locate Your Last Receipt
Finally, you can also check your Alabama EBT Card balance by viewing your last transaction receipt.
Your EBT Card balance should be printed at the bottom of your receipt.
I did not receive my EBT Benefits this month. What Can I do?
If your benefits have not been deposited into your EBT card account, contact the DHR using one of the methods below:

Will I get extra Alabama SNAP benefits due to Pandemic?
The Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) continues to issue emergency food stamps benefits to many SNAP households to help buy food during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
In addition, Congress has boosted those allotments by 15% through June 2021.
If your monthly SNAP benefit is less than the maximum SNAP for your household size, you will get a supplemental benefit up to the maximum SNAP amount for your household.
This will be issued for January and February, plus you will get 15% more.
Thereafter, you will get at least 15% more than your usual allotment through June 2021.
If you already get the maximum SNAP benefit, you will get 15% more than the maximum allotment for your household size through June 2021.
Below is the Maximum Benefit Amount, including the extra 15% based on household size:

How will I know if I qualify for Extra SNAP Benefits due to the Pandemic?
Alabama DHR has been distributing extra SNAP benefits for current recipients since March 2020.
If you qualify for extra SNAP benefits, you should have already gotten your extra SNAP benefits.
Furthermore, extra SNAP benefits have continued through the first part of 2021.
Benefits were distributed to eligible households for January and February 2021.
It is expected that extra food stamp benefits will be distributed to Alabama SNAP recipients through at least June 2021.
How do I find out how much I get in extra Alabama SNAP Benefits?
Unfortunately, the Alabama DHR may not send notices to all those eligible for extra SNAP benefits.
To find out if you have received extra food stamps in a given month, check your food stamps balance.

Do I have to re-certify to keep getting Alabama SNAP?
YES! Although the Alabama DHR extended some participants’ eligibility periods during the pandemic, you must reapply before your certification ends to keep getting benefits.

What if I lost food when my power was out because of the disaster?
If you lost food you purchased with your Alabama EBT benefits due to a power outage from a natural disaster, here’s what you can do:
The Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) gives replacement food stamps in disasters.
Contact your local DHR office. Click here to locate a DHR office.
If you asked for replacement food stamps and were denied, you can appeal.
To appeal, write to the food stamp office where you applied.
